The idea
One good shop is a stop. Twenty is a Saturday.
Nobody plans a morning around one jar of honey. Put that honey a tap away from a sourdough loaf, a flat of tomato seedlings and a downtown shop that's open till six, and people start looking. When neighbors start looking, they find you.
That's the whole idea. Shops here aren't fighting over a fixed set of customers. Each one adds a reason for the town to show up, and the showing up is shared. Your bread brings them to the page. Her honey keeps them there. Both of you sell more than either would alone.
Shelf beside shelf, not shop against shop.
How it works
- You join the list. You confirm your email, and a real person reads your entry.
- We invite you in and help you set up. As the pilot opens, we bring in founding Shops a few at a time. You set up your Shop, your first items and your pickup terms, with help.
- A neighbor finds you and sends a request. You accept on your terms. Nothing is reserved until you both agree.
- You arrange the handoff. You share the pickup details, they pay you directly in the way you've chosen, and you hand it over. On a porch, at a booth or across your counter.
Pilot reality. No money moves through CrissCross. There are no card payments through the platform in the pilot. Receipts are your record, not a bank's. We'd rather tell you that now than surprise you later.
What founding Shops get, and what we're not promising
- First in. You're invited to the pilot before it opens to the public, in small groups so each Shop gets real attention.
- A person who helps you set up. Your Shop, your first items, your pickup terms, your labels and sign.
- A direct say in what gets built. Founding Shops are asked first, and what you tell us goes straight into the build.
- Part of the first local launch. When the market opens, founding Shops are the market people see on day one.
- No required CrissCross fees. No ads. No paid placement, and shoppers pay you directly. CrissCross charges no required platform fees and takes no sales commission. Payment providers may charge their own fees, depending on how you pay or accept payment.
What we're not promising: A permanent badge, lifetime pricing, free photography or a better spot in search. If we ever offer founding perks beyond these, they'll be real, costed and written down before we say them.
Trust and privacy
- You choose what's public. List your storefront or stand address so neighbors can find you, or show just your part of town and share the exact pickup or drop-off spot after an order is agreed.
- You set the terms. Prices, pickup windows, what's ready and how you're paid are yours. Shoppers pay you directly. CrissCross never holds your money.
- You can leave. Close your Shop whenever you like. Your confirmation email has a link that deletes your entry, or reply to any email from us and we'll delete it.
- Nothing made up. You won't find invented shops, reviews or numbers here. Until real Shops open, our demo uses clearly labeled sample shops.

What does it cost?
CrissCross charges no required platform fees, takes no sales commission and shows no ads. Our plan is to support it through optional tips from the people who find it useful. How does CrissCross make money?
CrissCross charges no required platform fees, takes no sales commission and shows no ads. Our plan is to support it through optional tips from the people who find it useful. We earn our keep by being worth coming back to.
How do I get paid?
Directly, the way you choose: cash, your own card reader, Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, Zelle, a check or your own payment link. Your handle is shown only to a shopper inside an agreed order. CrissCross never holds funds and doesn't take card payments in the pilot.
How much time does it take?
Start with one item and one pickup window. You confirm what's ready when it's ready; there's no daily posting required. We help with setup.
I bake or cook at home. Is that allowed?
That depends on your state's rules, not on us. Oklahoma has its own rules for homemade food; other states differ. Being listed as a category here isn't permission to sell it. We'll point you to the official guidance and build in labeling reminders, and we never certify anyone's eligibility.
I already sell on Etsy, Facebook or at the market. Why this?
Keep doing that. This is one more place to be found, by neighbors looking for what you make, with your pickup terms spelled out so you explain less in comments. Your Shop information is entered once.
Who sees my information?
On your Shop page: your Shop's name, items, hours, pickup terms and the location you choose to show (your storefront or stand address, or just your part of town), all approved by you. On this list: only us, to talk with you about the pilot.
Can I leave?
Yes. Close your Shop any time, and ask us to delete your list information any time: use the removal link in your confirmation email, or reply to any email from us.
When does it launch?
We don't have a date, and we'd rather not invent one. The pilot opens to founding Shops a few at a time, as the tools are ready. We'll write when something real changes.
Which towns?
Norman, Oklahoma first. It's built to work in any U.S. town; if you're somewhere else, join the list and tell us your town.
Is CrissCross a marketplace like the big ones?
It's one place to find local goods and arrange pickup. It doesn't ship, doesn't hold money and takes no sales commission. The seller you see is the person you deal with.
A note from the founder
Local is your advantage. Being found should come naturally.
Terry UtleyCrissCross has connected local businesses and residents since 1936. Our family has carried that work forward since 2009, and now we're adapting it to how our communities live and shop today. Norman is home: my wife grew up here, we're both OU graduates, and we raised our three kids here; they now attend OU. Yet even with those roots, we struggled to discover local sellers. CrissCross Local Market is our next chapter, making it easier for neighbors to find and support one another. Local is your advantage. Being found should come naturally. We're starting here to help neighbors discover you, remember you and think of you first. If you make, grow or sell something here, I'd love for you to be one of the first.
